It's 2018, yet reading books by voices of people of color is as important as ever. In a class of high schoolers that I took part in this week, all were asked to name three women of color who came from the United States. That's it--and they could be living or dead! None could name three. While one named two, most had none. None!
Bust Magazine just sent out a list of new books they recommend we read and I've already added them all to my library list. Authors include Black Lives Matter founder Patrisse Cullors, asha bandele, Morgan Jerkins and other women whose stories need to be heard more than ever. Grab a couple of copies and share them with your book club!
I've reserved Cullores's book first; which are you reading first? Have you read any of these already and if so, what did you think?
