I love the Internet. It is so easy to find free help with homeschooling. This past week I discovered Laura Candler's website, which is filled with free printables to be used with your child's literacy courses. The printables can be used with any child in grades 3 through 6.
After clicking on the Literacy Printables link, you'll see over 30 printables that you can print out absolutely free. The first printable that caught my eye was the Paper Chain Connections, which gives students a fun way to record a book's title, author and any connections the student made throughout the book.
I like this concept because it helps students identify books with their own lives. Another fun printable is Reading Bingo. This gives kids a chance to match books with their proper category, such as fiction, biography, comic book, poetry book, fantasy book, nonfiction, or an autobiography .Also on the literacy page are links to reading workshop strategies, writing printables and prompts, language arts ideas and freebies, poetry mini packs and lessons and graphic organizers to create mini reading lessons.
Laura Candler is a teacher with over 29 years of experience teaching 4th, 5th and 6th grade. She has written numerous books and created hundreds of her own worksheets that she shares with others for free. As a homeschooling mom, I appreciate all of the hard work Laura has done over the years to help kids learn in a fun and engaging way. I'm glad I came across her website, and I hope it benefits other homeschooling parents.
