Every Monday Matters By Matt Emerzian and Kelly Bozza
This is such an amazing book for the inspired or need to be inspired. Every Monday Matters, written by Matthew Emerzian and Kelly Bozza gives you ideas on how to make a difference in your everyday life, starting it off with Monday’s - turning the one day of the week that most people dread into something special.
In this book, they give you examples of things to do every Monday for one year (52 Mondays). They also inform you on how to get involved in your community and how to make a difference in other people’s lives. This book is so full of inspiration that after reading it, no matter what day of the week, you’ll want to jump up and start helping.
This is an insert from Every Monday Matters, “This is about people taking personal responsibility to make a difference. To matter – one day, one action at a time. While the ideas in this book can be put into action on person at a time, our vision extends far beyond the individual. It is a simple game of numbers… a community of friends, a chamber of commerce, a neighborhood, a church, a club, employees at a company… and grows across the nation. Imagine a day when no one honks their horn. Imagine a day when there are 300 million fewer pieces of litter on the streets because everyone picked up just one piece of trash. Imagine a day when… Imagine.”
Matt Emerzian and Kelly Bozza encourage their readers to take action by stopping to make a list of what matters most in your life, make a list of how you currently spend your time each week, organize your list and figure out which activities are required that you do, which are optional and which are a waste of your time, rearrange your list so that you can reduce the optional or wasted activities and spend your time doing things that matter most to you.
With each activity for each Monday of every year, they state facts that follow up why that activity may be important, such as helping the hungry. They state that 96 billion pounds of food are wasted each year. All you have to do is donate food to a homeless shelter, volunteer at a soup kitchen, start a food drive, etc. Something that helps the community, but also makes you feel like a million bucks for giving back.
Their activities can also be as simple as thanking a teacher or a firefighter, helping someone to quit smoking (or yourself), read a book, turn off the television, mentor a child, don’t honk your horn, learn CPR, adopt a pet, smile, donate books and many, many more.
This book also makes a great gift, which will be sure to inspire anyone. Included with the book is a CD-Rom and link to their website where you can share your stories of making Monday’s matter or stories of hope or letting them know that a friend may be in need of help, etc. I highly recommend this book, because with it, we can make this world a better place.
