<description>Only in America would a SNL satirist land a book deal on a vice presidential candidate. While likely not as entertaining, there is a new Sarah Palin book on the horizon that will shed some factual light and keep your Sarah appetite at bay while awaiting the Fey memoir . The book, titled "Sarah takes on Big Oil" by Kay Cashman and Kristen Nelson, examines Palin's tempestuous relationship with Alaska's three major oil companies. The book is being released Oct. 12 by Anchorage-based PNA Publishing, an affiliate of Petroleum News, Alaska's only standalone oil and gas publication.

"Sarah takes on Big Oil" contains a stunning eight-page color insert with photos of Alaska's oil industry by noted Alaska photographer Judy Patrick. Patrick was a Wasilla city councilwoman when Palin was mayor and is a contract photographer for Petroleum News.

"I think it would be safe to say that Judy Patrick is the leading photographer for oil industry coverage in Alaska," said Steve Sutherlin, a collaborator on the book who worked with Petroleum News’ production director Steven Merritt in selecting photos.

"I think Judy's photos will help people to get a better grip on the scale and scope of the industry in Alaska," he said. "Her work is a record of remarkable human achievement in the face of forbidding geography and conditions."

Patrick has numerous international photo credits. Most recently her photos of Sarah Palin have been snapped up by major publications such as the Wall Street Journal and Newsweek.

Sutherlin said Patrick’s expertly composed photos seemed the perfect addition to Cashman and Nelson’s incisive reporting and meticulous research. Cashman is the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News; Nelson is editor-in-chief.

Sarah takes on Big Oil is for sale online now at www.sarahtakesonbigoil.com and it will be on retailer's shelves in late-October.
